Come with us on a brief visit to see some of the realities, hear the voices and stories of those living there and learn more of their endeavours, hopes and fears for the future. It will not be an easy journey. We invite Jews, Christians and Muslims to travel together, engage together in a spirit of dialogue, weep and laugh together, and perhaps take home a new vision for our own communities and their interaction with ‘the other’.The study tour will include, God willing, Jerusalem, the Galilee and Bethlehem and surrounding West Bank.  It will include places of religious and historic significance, coexistence projects and discussion of issues facing people today.  (Cost to be confirmed, but probably around £1100.  We are working to provide bursaries as we do not want cost to prevent people coming.)

LANDMARK MANCHESTER EVENT

Muslim Jewish Forum

FODIP facilitated a landmark ‘Listening Event’ at Manchester Town Hall in February when Jews and Muslims met to listen to each others’ experiences and thoughts on the impact of the Gaza Israel conflict on their communities. The event was organised by The Muslim Jewish Forum of Greater Manchester.
Councillor Afzal Khan, Co-Chair of the Muslim Jewish Forum said, “This has been a very difficult subject for the members of the Forum to discuss together as the plight of Israelis and Palestinians is one close to our hearts. Muslims and Jews don’t always see eye to eye on the conflict but this event enabled us to hear and see just how deeply many of us feel about it and how it effects our daily lives.”
Jewish Co-Chair of the Forum, Jonny Wineberg, said, “To be honest, we were in two minds about whether to hold this Listening Event at all. However, from the feedback we have received to date it is clear that many of the participants learnt a lot from it, particular as many of the comments made by Jews and Muslims were not the ones that people were necessarily expecting.”
